I enjoyed the experience thoroughly and excelled at this skill. While attending Middle School, I had the privilege of playing Greensleeves as a flute solo during our Christmas concert. In addition to my flute solo, I also had the opportunity to sing my first solo in the Choral Christmas concert. I was also a member of various vocal groups in Middle school. While attending Farmington High School in Farmington, MO, I became first and second chair flute player. In addition, I auditioned and won roles in several musical and non-musical plays. Later in High school, I began instruction under Don Veith, Choral Music Instructor at Farmington High school. I was a member of all of the choirs and choruses in High School. A number of these choirs required an audition to qualify in which I qualified and excelled in each of these groups. Frequently, I have sung soprano and alto parts and consider myself to have a good ear for harmonizing. In my junior year in High school, I auditioned for a role in the play Godspell and played the part of the mouse. I also had a soprano solo in which I sang the song Oh Bless the Lord my Soul. I was also a member of the Farmington High school Marching Band, Concert Band and the Color Guard for three years. During my first year at Mineral Area College, I auditioned for, and received, a fully paid music scholarship for both my flute playing and vocal abilities. I then went on to major in Music, receiving top music awards with honors, including the Outstanding Music Achievement award upon my graduation. When I decided to complete my Bachelor's of Music degree at Webster University, I auditioned for and received a music scholarship and a placement in their vocal music program. It was an honor since, for the entire year, only twenty students were awarded this scholarship. I completed my degree in vocal performance at Webster University in 1997. In 2002, I auditioned for the first time for the St. Louis Symphony Chorus, and received a place in their choir as a Soprano. I also auditioned for the St. Louis Chamber Chorus in 2002 for the first time and also received a place in their choir as a Soprano. I no longer sing with these groups, but am aspiring to further my musical career. As I said in the beginning, I am an aspiring musician. I would like to be recognized for my talent, but for me, the most gratifying feeling is to compose a piece of music that has taken a life of its own in my head and then share it with family and friends. Once I start on a composition in one of the many styles I am drawn to, it takes on a life of its own. I realize the music business is very difficult to break into, but my desire to achieve, combined with the God-given talent I've been given, will keep me focused on my journey to success. (Musical History - assistance w/ this writing by Mike King) A Special THANK YOU from me to you Mike for all of your guidance, inspirations, poems, wonderful words, ART, and loving support always!
